Recruiting Students
Thank you for your interest in hiring IUPUI Work-Study students! You will find that students can be a wonderful asset to your agency. Recruiting the right student for your position is key. There are several ways to recruit students and advertise your job openings. Following are a few ideas to get your started.
- Campus online job database - Advertise job openings to IUPUI students on www.IUPUItalent.net The site and service is free and provides the widest access possible to students across the campus. Positions posted on IUPUI Talent are shared with all the IUPUI schools’ job database systems, including JagJobs, which is open to all IUPUI students. Students apply to your position(s) as specified on your job posting(s). Click here to learn more about how to post a position.
- IUPUI Community Work-Study (CWS) listserv – Students sign up for this listserv so that they can be contacted about possible CWS job opportunities. To have your job advertised to these students please send your position descriptions to cwsjobs@iupui.edu
- Flyers on campus bulletin boards – Obtain a list of public bulletin boards on campus from the Campus & Community Life office at cclife@iupui.edu or (317) 274-3931.
- Attending career & internship fairs on campus – Career and internship fairs are a great way to meet a lot of students in person in a short period of time. View upcoming career fairs at http://uc.iupui.edu/students/career/fairs.asp.
- Word of Mouth – Talk to students and faculty that you know. Word of mouth can be an effective way to recruit students. Students talk with one another and their professors about finding jobs and ways to gain experience in their field. The more people who know about your position, the more likely you will be to find the perfect candidate!
Students who are seeking employment are directed to search primarily on-line via JagJobs and their school’s job database systems; However, we encourage students to also utilize other methods including contacting organizations of interest directly, watching for flyers on bulletin boards, signing up for the CWS jobs listserv, etc.
