Agents and Architects of Democracy
When: Tuesday, November 03, 2009 | 03:00 PM-04:00 PM
Where: UL 1125M (CTL conference room)
Webinar sponsored by the Center for Service and Learning and IUPUI’s American Democracy Project
Sponsored by AASCU's Democracy Project and cosponsored by AAC&U and other higher education associations committed to civic education, the webinar, Agents and Architects of Democracy: The Struggle for the Future of Higher Education will be held November 3 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) and will explore the history and future of civic agency as an organizing theme for higher education.
This program begins with a provocative question: How can higher education reverse the disturbing trends we see occurring—pressures for higher education to become increasingly a private good with students as customers, institutions as industries, and competitive success measured by how many are refused admission?
The webinar will be moderated by Harry C. Boyte, founder and co-director of the Center for Democracy and Citizenship now at Augsburg College, and a senior fellow at the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.
All CSL-sponsored events are free, and most are open to the entire campus and/or the public. All participants, however, are asked to register online in advance. We use the registration data to generate nametags and attendance sheets, as well as to ensure that we have sufficient materials, seating, and food (in the case of longer events). When you complete your registration, you will receive an immediate email confirmation. A follow-up reminder will be sent before the event occurs.
Should you need to cancel your registration, please contact us by phone (317-278-2662) or e-mail Dawn Rodney at drodney@iupui.edu.
