Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarship Program

All Community Service Leader applications must be turned into the Office of Community Service (CE375) before 5pm on the deadline.

This scholarship program is only for continuing students who have been a part of the Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarship Program prior to applying.

ACTIVITIES:

1. Complete 10 hours of in-office and out-of-office hours weekly per academic year
2. Complete the tasks listed under job description (For a full list of CSL job descriptions please click here)
3. Work with other CSL's and Office of Community Service staff to coordinate assigned tasks
4. Meet consistently with staff advisor
5. Participate in service leadership workshops with other service scholars in the Spring Semester
6. Attend additional service leadership-focused activities, including Make a Difference Day and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Applicants must have been part of the Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarship Program prior to application.
2. Applications must maintain a 2.75 cumulative G.P.A.
   

THE APPLICATION INCLUDES:

1. A completed application from the Office of Community Service
2. A personal essay (see below)
3. An academic transcript (One Start is acceptable)
4. One letter of recommendation written by someone who is familiar with the applicant’s service activity and academic achievement.
5. Current resume or bullet-pointed overview of skills, background and qualifications

THE PERSONAL ESSAY INCLUDES:

1. During your time at IUPUI, how has your participation in community and/or campus service activities made an impact on your peers, campus, and community?
2. How have your past experiences prepared you to work in a diverse environment?
3. If selected for the Community Service Leader, which positions are you most interested in and why?

On campus interviews will be conducted for all finalists by a committee. Applicants will know by May if they have been accepted as a Community Service Leader.
