This page provides esstential information for IUPUI faculty and staff interested scholarship support through the Service Learning Assistant (SLA) Program.

(NOTE: SLA application will be hosted through an online survey and data management system. Print applications are not accepted.)
 
 
 
 
Application Deadlines

Fall Only and Academic Year Awards

    Application period opens: February 1, 2012

    Priority Application period closes: March 1, 2012 (for those wanting to funding notification prior to the end of spring classes)

    General applications will not be accepted after: July 1, 2012.

Spring only 2013 Awards

    Application period opens: October 1, 2012

    Application period closes: November 1, 2012.

Summer only 2013 Awards

NOTE: Summer scholarships are contingent on the availability of funds.

    Application period opens: January 1, 2013

    Priority Application period closes: February 1, 2013 (for those wanting to funding notification prior to the end of spring classes)

     

     

    Types of SLA application requests:

    There are three types:

    • Academic Year funding requests: Faculty and staff may elect to submit an academic year application when the following circumstances apply:

      • the course, project or program for which SLA support is solicited will span (or the same course will be taught) during both the Fall and Spring semesters;

      • during one semester a faculty/staff member plans to request support for a service-learning course and the other semester the request shifts to a community-engaged research project over vice-versa. Both requests can be combined in a single application.

      • Note: SLA funding is tied to the faculty/staff member, rather than the student. Funded faculty/staff mentors may elect to select different students/or change students over the course of the academic year.

    • Single semester funding requests: Faculty and staff have the option to apply for a one semester award for either fall or spring.

    • Summer semester funding requests: Summer funds are contingent upon the availability of funds. Separate applications must be submitted to be considered for summer support.
