The IUPUI Civic-Minded Graduate Model

The IUPUI Civic-Minded Graduate (CMG) Narrative Prompt and its accompanying Rubric were designed as assessment tools to evaluate civic learning outcomes for college graduates. The concept of Civic-Minded Graduate represents the intersection of three student attributes:

Definition of “Civic-Minded Graduate”
The Civic-Minded Graduate is skillfully trained through formal education (bachelor’s degree or equivalent), and has the capacity and desire to work with others to achieve collective public goods. The concept of civic-minded graduate incorporates the following domains (see Bringle & Steinberg, in press):
