Service Scholars in Action

Student Scholar Spotlight

Kailey Vernon

IUPUI Senior, Community Service Leader

Kailey Vernon is an IUPUI Junior studying Psychology and minoring in Biology at the School of Science.  This is Kailey’s 3rd year in the SHJ program.

Her favorite experience as a SHJ Scholar:
“I think the best part about SHJ is getting to serve and show your passions around the community. The program makes you feel like you have a second family!”

Her favorite quote:
“See the light in others, and treat them as if that is all you see.” –Dr. Wayne Dyer

Her advice to new SHJ scholars:
“Really try to put yourself out there. Make new friends and challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone. I started off a little shy as a First Year Service Scholar (FSS), but my mentors and peers pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. Once you do this, you realize your possibilities are endless and you can do anything that you put your mind to.”
