Service Scholars in Action

Student Scholar Spotlight

Megan Samspon

IUPUI Sophomore, Family, School, and Neighborhood Scholar

Megan Sampson is an IUPUI Sophomore studying Health Sciences in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. This is Megan’s 2nd year in the SHJ program.

Her favorite experience as a SHJ Scholar:

“The best parts of SHJ are the people and community of leaders who are driven to serve. They are hardworking. They are inspiring. They are encouraging. It makes it all the better to be surrounded by people whom I aspire to be like.”

Her favorite service project:

“My favorite service project was Day of Caring last year when my entire FSS group painted playground games like hopscotch on the pavement of an IPS elementary school. Now I see the impact of projects like that even more, since working with IPS schools through FSN. The best part of my job is the smiles on the faces of the young girls that I currently work with.”

Her favorite quote:
"I want to be a woman who overcomes obstacles by tackling them in faith instead of tiptoeing around them in fear." - Renee Swope

Her favorite snack:
Rhiannon's pumpkin chocolate chip cookies

Her advice to new SHJ scholars:
“Do what you love. School and work will still be there while other opportunities won't.
