SAM H. JONES
This service scholarship has been named after Sam H. Jones to honor his memory and deeds as a dedicated public servant and Chief Executive Officer of the Indianapolis Urban League for 36 years. Sam Jones built bridges between races and genders, advocated for social change to assure equal access to education, housing, healthcare, and contributed to improving the quality of life for many people in Central Indiana.
The Community Service Scholarship Program was established to recognize students who have made exemplary service contributions to the community and/or their high school or the campus, and to foster their leadership and continued service contributions to the community during the year.
