There is a growing national trend toward the promotion of positive relationships between institutions of higher education with schools, non-profits, government, and neighborhood organizations. This can be done effectively by establishing collaborative long-term partnerships between campuses and communities.
As an urban institution, IUPUI understands the value of long-term campus-community partnerships to fulfill its civic engagement mission. Through campus-community partnerships IUPUI achieves its mission “to develop and apply knowledge to ever-changing social issues through teaching, research, and service . . . and to serve as a model for collaboration and interdisciplinary work through partnerships with the community.”
The Office of Neighborhood Partnerships collaborates with community organizations and other campus units to build long-term partnerships between IUPUI and its surrounding neighborhoods.
Our mission is to build and maintain mutually beneficial campus-community partnerships with neighborhoods surrounding the IUPUI campus which engage students, faculty, & staff in addressing community and social justice issues.
