Campus-Community Initiatives

George Washington Community High School

GWCHS is a full-service community school on the west side of Indianapolis that educates and supports young people in the 7th through 12th grades, their families, and the broader community. Located approximately one mile from campus, this community hub has become a shining example of a multifaceted partnership between the university and a community partner. This partnership began in the late 1990s through collaborative work of the Westside Education Taskforce and has endured many leadership and staffing changes both in the school and at IUPUI.

The following video briefly describes how IUPUI partners with the school in various capacities.

To date, there have been more than 28 campus departments engaged at the school.

The following list provides an overview of the most recent IUPUI activities/programs/service-learning courses engaged at the school.
