Community Engagement Associates Program

Program components

Application process

  1. IUPUI faculty or staff complete and submit an application during the appropriate submission period. (Requests can be made for fall only, spring only, AY, or summer, depending on the time of year.)
  2. Applications are reviewed according to our program funding priorities and criteria.
  3. Faculty and staff who are funded then recruit student(s) to hire as their CEA(s) for the appropriate award period.

Awarding a CEA

The Center for Service and Learning oversees the scholarship awarding process for each CEA.  Faculty/staff will recruit their CEAs (with support from CSL) and will submit the names of their preferred candidates via an online submission form.

Once the CSL has worked directly with the candidate through the awarding process, the CEA and the faculty/staff supervisor will receive an email indicating that all requirements are complete for the student to begin.

Program expectations

The CEA program has expectations for both the faculty/staff supervisor and for the student. In order to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to grow and to develop through this program, supervisors and students will engage in a mentoring relationship guided by resources and modules within Canvas.

Supervisor expectations
  1. View and complete the online orientation module in Canvas.
  2. Utilizing prompts in Canvas, complete at least two reflection/coaching sessions with your student each semester.
  3. Complete the end of the award feedback and evaluation form.
Student expectations
  1. View and complete the online orientation module in Canvas.
  2. Complete one professional development module in Canvas per semester.
  3. Complete the end of the award feedback and evaluation form.
