Circles Indianapolis - Children's Program Coordinator

Description:
Circles is national relationship-based poverty initiative (www.circlesusa.org). The Indianapolis chapter meets weekly as a community at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church (www.circlesindy.org). We bring together community volunteers with individuals who are living in poverty to built intentional friendships to overcome the barriers of poverty. Role Summary: The Children’s Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, preparation, organization and implementation of the Circles Children’s Program. This is a hands-on role that involves attending weekly Circles meetings on Thursday evenings (6-8 pm) and ad hoc monthly team meetings. Curriculum is available from Circles USA that can be tailored to the local needs. Essential Functions: The Children’s Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, oversight and evaluation of the overall Circles Children’s program. Key responsibilities include: 1. Attend weekly Circles meetings and monthly team meetings 2. Plan and implement CUSA Children’s programming and/or other age-appropriate activities for children with the support of Children’s Program Volunteers. 3. Ensure proper staffing and ratio of volunteers to children within the program at all times. 4. Manage the onboarding, orientation, and training of Circles Children’s Program Volunteers with the input of the Circles staff. 5. Communicate clearly and effectively with children, parents, Circles staff and volunteers. 6. Help manage any conflicts that may occur, and provide written reports on any incidents. 7. Provide a safe, secure, and caring environment for youth participating in Circles. 8. Be self-motivated, self-directed, punctual, and flexible. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old; must consent to and pass a background check; read, sign and follow childcare policies and procedures, code of conduct, and confidentiality policies; ability to prioritize and organize work; must be self-motivated, self-directed, punctual, and flexible; ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds; compassionate, patient, a sense of humor, and enjoys children. PREFERRED: Experience working directly with children; experience working with youth or families, preferably low-income or high risk; CPR and First Aid certifications
