- HVAF helps homeless veterans return to self-sufficiency and engages at risk veterans to prevent them from becoming homeless by providing supportive housing, case management, food, hygiene and clothing as well as other essential services. They need volunteers to help sort donations and then help the veterans pick those items out. They also have a community center where veterans can come in and hang out and get a snack and some coffee. Volunteers are needed to help staff the room and assist the veterans who are visiting. It is a great way to spend time with our wonderful veterans! They ask that volunteers who help veterans shop for items dedicate time from 11am-3pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For the community center, they ask that volunteers dedicate time from 10am-2pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All other sorting of donations would be open hours 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.
