- Volunteers are utilized in a variety of ways at Second Helpings. Kitchen volunteers often sort/chop a variety of produce or meat, assemble sandwiches, assist with preparing large quantities of meals in our large tilt skillets, portion meals into individual or family sized take away containers, and other meal prep tasks. Hub volunteers assist with unloading, sorting and weighing food donations and transferring items within our facility. Second Helpings currently has the most openings on Monday-Friday from 12:30 - 4:00 PM, and on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Volunteers (and employees) must take their temperature prior to arrival and wear a mask for the duration of their shift, and also adhere to the Indiana Board of Health mandated dresscode of long pants, t-shirt or long sleeved shirt, socks and closed-toed shoes, and hat or head covering.
