Indianapolis Zoo xZOOberance Spring Festival

Address:
1200 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222
Description:
The Indianapolis Zoo will definitely be the “hot” spring break destination this year with an all-new event sure to brighten your spirits. Join us for 12 days of xZOOberance, our new spring festival. It is three weeks of music, dance, art, and nature—just the combination you need to shake off the winter and dive into everything spring has to offer. The festival features live entertainment at two different stage locations; a cheer garden offering beer, pretzels, treats, and kid-friendly refreshments; and a whimsical garden of remarkable topiaries fit for a zoo. Here are the available volunteer positions: animal enrichment assistant helps guests create enrichment for the zoo's animals by decorating paper kites! Invite guests to participate in the activity, explain the purpose of the activity to guests, and keep the table and supplies tidy. This is an outdoor/seated position. Craft assistant helps guests make a simple pinwheel craft. Please help keep the table and supplies tidy. This is an outdoor/seated position. Floater assists in several areas, including the Cheer Garden, Yoga Inspired by Animals, Pavilion greeter, and helps with volunteer breaks; flower arranging assistant helps guests retrieve and put away supplies for them to try their hand at faux-flower arrangements. Invite guests to participate in the activity, help keep supplies available and tidy. This is an outdoor position which requires mobility. Pollinator activity assistant facilitates a game in which guests try to toss items into corresponding containers. Invite guests to participate in the activity, monitor and pulse the line and help keep activity supplies within the allotted space. This is an outdoor position which requires some movement. Sculpture scavenger hunt assistant invites guests to participate in the Sculpture Scavenger Hunt in the White River Gardens. Pass out pencils and activity sheets and retrieve returned pencils from the Gardens Gift Shop where guests go to collect their prizes. This is an indoor, seated position. Event dates are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, March 21–24, 28–31, and April 4–7. Shift times go from 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. and 11:30 a.m.–3 p.m.
