Kennedy King Memorial Initiative 51st Commemoration Event

Date:
04/04/2019
Time:
4:00 PM
-
8:00 PM
Address:
Landmark for Peace Memorial: 1702 N Broadway St., Indianapolis, IN 46202
Summary:
The Kennedy King Memorial Initiative builds on the historical events of April 4, 1968, to raise awareness, provoke thought and inspire action to eliminate division and injustice. Volunteer with us on April 4! The Kennedy King Memorial Initiative (KKMI) is looking for volunteers to help us commemorate the 51st anniversary of Robert Kennedy's historic speech announcing the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Indianapolis on 4-4-1968. The speech, held in what is now Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park is known as one of the great speeches in American history, as well as a significant part of our city's history. To remember this important event, the KKMI holds an annual commemoration event in the park with local, state, and national leaders along with community members, gathering to honor legacies of King and Kennedy. We need your help to make it happen. 40 volunteers are needed on Thursday, April 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering, please let Cynthia Morraz know by Wednesday, March 20. If you are interested in volunteering, but cannot stay for the entire time, please let her know when you are available. It’s going to be an exciting day, and we are very pleased to have you on board!
