William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion

The William M. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion has been established to recognize students who have demonstrated exemplary commitment to their communities during their years as an IUPUI student.

Days of Service

These are one-time service events held at various times throughout the year in which you can volunteer alongside community partners in the Indianapolis community.

Service-based student organizations

Joining a service-based student organization is a great way to meet new friends and to make a difference in our community. Join us for our community service and civic engagement events held throughout the year.

Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarships & Bonner Leader Program

The many Sam H. Jones scholarships offer financial awards and a variety of components to help you grow as a student, community member, and leader.

Grants for students

If you have ideas for service-related programs and events, use grants from IUPUI and other organizations to make your ideas happen.

Community Engagement Associates Program

This program is a key funding source to support community engagement at IUPUI. The core of community-engaged work is relational work—work that takes time to build and work that cannot be done by individuals alone.

Volunteer newsletter

Sign up for the weekly e-newsletter that gives you up-to-date information on volunteer opportunities on campus and connects you with various opportunities to serve the Indianapolis community.

Community Work-Study Program

Using your federal work-study award at an approved community work-study agency is a great way to gain real-life experience at a nonprofit or government agency.
