Faculty Learning Community on Service Learning Taxonomy

Faculty learning community on the IUPUI service learning taxonomy

In 2017–18, CSL convened a Faculty Learning Community (FLC) focused on utilizing the IUPUI service learning taxonomy for course enhancement. This highly interactive FLC provided an opportunity for service learning instructors to deepen their understanding of service learning as a high-impact teaching practice. Participants reviewed literature that informed the dimensions of the IUPUI service learning taxonomy, applied it to an undergraduate service learning course to support fidelity and improved course quality and conducted research on student learning outcomes as a result.
